Date: October 14, 2025
Synopsis
One of the most severe and widespread problems facing renewable asset owners across the region is curtailment, which is particularly pronounced in Northern Chile, and which many attribute as the driving force behind its success in storage deployment so far. With renewables pushing down prices on the day-ahead electricity market and reducing earnings, it is estimated that around 8 GW of battery storage will be needed to provide system stability and increase revenue for asset owners. This panel will bring together players who have successfully deployed storage in Chile, to address how their projects can help alleviate these problems.
