I am the joint head of Bird & Bird's global technology practice, I lead our Commercial Department in London and specialise in IT and communications projects, supporting clients in the public and private sector with their innovation projects.
I am particularly interested in the adoption of connectivity to invent, improve and transform products, businesses and our smart cities for example.
I previously worked on national programmes for the implementation of IT in the NHS and the adoption of smart metering in Britain and currently support a number of clients with their procurement/development of connected technology solutions.
Examples include the establishment of IoT platforms, the adoption of connectivity by a number of industries (such as energy, automotive and aviation) and the development of new business models around the data that is being created as a result of all those newly connected devices and services. Finally, I work closely with a number of clients involved in the digital infrastructure space (data centres, towers, wireless and cable networks and services) as they help create smart cities and smart grids.
Before I joined Bird & Bird in London I qualified as a lawyer in the Netherlands and whilst I no longer practice Dutch law, I continue to regularly work in our Dutch offices and spend a lot of time working with my colleagues internationally to help our clients with their cross-border technology projects.
